NCAA Wrestling Championship Underway

2016 NCAA Wrestling Championships

Today at Enterprise Center, the NCAA Division Wrestling Championships will have their first lineup of matches. The event concludes on Sunday.

This will be the first championship series since 2019. The 2020 tournament was meant to be held in Minneapolis, but canceled due to the global pandemic.

University of Missouri coach Brian Smith told St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “I know people are complaining about [fewer] people in the stands...but after last year I feel grateful to be part of all this. This is all about the wrestlers and those 330 athletes getting a chance to compete for a national championship. Last year, seeing the faces of our seniors after telling them that their careers were over...they were crushed."
